9 Expert Tips for Long-Lasting Permanent Makeup Results

Achieving the best results with your permanent makeup begins before you step into our studio and continues after your procedure. Follow these essential tips to ensure beautiful, long-lasting results.

Before the Procedure

1. Avoid Certain Cosmetic Procedures in Advance

To ensure ideal conditions for your new brows, eyeliner, or lips, avoid certain procedures at least 2-3 weeks prior. Treatments like dermabrasion, lip fillers, and sun tanning can alter skin texture, affecting pigment placement and shape.

2. Prepare Your Skin

On the day of your appointment, cleanse your face thoroughly with a gentle soap and warm water. Avoid applying any makeup or skincare products to keep the treated area contaminant-free. For lip blush procedures, a gentle lip scrub with sugar or a lip exfoliator can help.

3. Avoid Caffeine on the Day of Your Appointment

Caffeine can increase skin sensitivity and, in microblading, may lead to extra bleeding. Refrain from consuming caffeine for at least 4-6 hours before your appointment. While it won’t prevent the procedure, being mindful can help minimize potential sensitivities.

During the Procedure

4. Communicate Any Discomfort

Your comfort is important to us. We use topical numbing agents to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. If you have a low pain tolerance, let your artist know. Be mindful that areas like the lips are naturally more sensitive than the brows.

After the Procedure

5. Avoid Sun Exposure

UV rays can impact pigment setting on the skin. For the first 4-6 weeks post-procedure, avoid direct sunlight, wear a hat, and refrain from applying sunscreen on the tattooed area.

6. Avoid Sweating and Swimming Pools

Sweat can expel the pigment, affecting the final result, while pool chemicals may alter pigment color and increase the risk of infection. For optimal healing, avoid excessive sweating and swimming pools during the initial healing phase.

7. Resist Touching or Picking Your Skin

Picking at your skin may remove pigment prematurely. Let your skin heal naturally. To manage itchiness, apply a small amount of ointment twice daily as recommended.

8. Follow Aftercare Instructions Closely

We will provide detailed aftercare instructions tailored to each technique—whether powder brows, hairstrokes, lip blushing, lash line enhancement, or microblading. Use the Vitamin A&D ointment provided for at least 10 days post-procedure.

9. Avoid Skin Care Products on Treated Areas

For 4-6 weeks post-procedure, avoid retinol creams, serums, and other skincare products on the treated area. These can interact with the pigment, potentially affecting its color and quality.
